Artist Feature: Astrid Köppe

Tayloe Piggott Gallery artist Astrid Köppe introduces her work and guides us through her Berlin-based studio. 

 

Köppe was born in Köthen, Germany, in 1974. She studied a Braunschweig University of Art, Brunswick, Germany, where she earned her master's degree in 1999. Köppe developed her artistic style while attending a residency at Lost Generation Art Space / Goethe-Institut, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is widely exhibited in Europe and Asia. Her most recent exhibitions are the Fusiforme, Galerie Louis Gendre, Chamalières, France, Fusiform, Galerie Carolyn Heinz, Hamburg, Germany, as well as New Work, Gallery Joe, Philadelphia, United States. Köppe also has her work in public collections in Berlinische Galerie, Berlin, Germany, Kupferstichkabinett, Kunsthalle Hamburg, Germany, and the collection of Young Eun Museum of Contemporary Art, Gwangju-si, South Korea. Köppe is the recipient of the Junge Akademie, Akademie der Küste, Berlin, Germany scholarship as well as a grant from Käthe Dorsch und Agnes Straub Stifung, Berlin, Germany.
